C&I projekts
Why tanks with a large heat exchanger surface are the right choice
Special attention deserves the 183 L storage tanks designed for heat pumps. Their main competitive advantage is the exceptionally large exchanger area of up to 2.35 m², which ensures fast and efficient heat transfer.
In practice, this means:
- better cooperation with low-temperature sources,
- shorter DHW heating times,
- higher seasonal efficiency of the heat pump,
- lower electricity consumption.
The large exchanger area is the key factor in which these storage tanks outperform most competitive solutions on the market.
The future of the HVAC segment in Europe in the coming years (2026–2030+)
1) The market will break on regulations, not on “fashion”
The European HVAC market is no longer primarily demand-driven and “comfortable”. It is being pushed into technological change by regulations and energy prices: from fossil fuels to electrification (heat pumps), from high GWP to low GWP (natural refrigerants), from “equipment sales” to “performance sales” (service, monitoring, guaranteed savings).
The strongest external levers:
F-gas legislation: stricter restrictions and gradual reduction of HFCs with the aim of complete elimination by 2050; major impacts on refrigerant availability, prices and service strategies.
EPBD (Energy Performance of Buildings Directive): pressure on energy efficiency of buildings, renovations and systemic reduction of consumption; HVAC becomes the core of “buildings as an energy system”, not an isolated profession.
Ecodesign/sustainable products (ESPR): moving towards higher efficiency, reparability, transparency and a lower environmental footprint of products; impact on portfolio, documentation and spare parts.
2) Heat pumps: short-term volatility, medium-term growth
2024 showed that the market is not linear: in 19 European countries, about 2.31 million heat pumps were sold, which is a decrease of ~22% compared to 2023.
However, this decrease is not the “end of the trend”, but the result of a combination of factors: unstable subsidies, a weaker economy, the electricity/gas price ratio, installer capacity and communication chaos.
At the same time, there are already signs of a turnaround: according to information linked to the EHPA, a slight recovery (+9%) appeared in the 1st half of 2025.
Conclusion for 2026–2030: expect growth, but cyclical and uneven by country. The winners will be those who know how to sell the solution (design + hydraulics + regulation + service), not the box.
3) Refrigerants and service: the hardest change will come from F-gas
New reality for refrigeration and air conditioning:
HFC restrictions will push refrigerant prices up and increase the value of proper design, tightness, recovery and responsible service;
the market will move towards low GWP: R290 (propane) in small/medium capacities, CO₂ (R744) in retail/industry, or HFO blends where natural refrigerants hit safety or technical limits.
Business implication: service and retrofit of refrigeration systems will become more attractive in terms of margins than "new installations" alone, as legislation and availability of refrigerants will increase the value of know-how and rapid response.
4) Digitalization and regulation: “software will eat up” part of the HVAC margin
In the coming years, the share of:
remote monitoring (faults, COP/EER, consumption),
predictive maintenance (preventive replacement of parts based on data),
optimization based on tariffs, photovoltaics and storage (EMS/HEMS/BMS).
Whoever owns the data and the service contract will own the recurring revenue. Sales without service will be an increasingly weak model.

Panasonic BIG M heat pumps – a high-performance solution for commercial, large residential buildings
Panasonic Aquarea M series represents a new generation of Big Aquarea T-CAP M heat pumps—highly efficient air-to-water solutions designed for demanding applications in heating, cooling, and domestic hot water preparation. These systems enhance energy efficiency, reliability, and operational flexibility in extreme conditions, delivering a real competitive advantage in the heat pump market.
Performance Features and Technology
Stable performance at low temperatures
Panasonic Big Aquarea T-CAP M heat pumps are equipped with advanced T-CAP (Total Capacity) technology, which ensures maintenance of nominal output even at very low outdoor temperatures down to –28 °C, without the need to activate an electric backup heater.
High water outlet temperature
The M series achieves a heating water outlet temperature of up to 75 °C, enabling efficient supply to radiator systems during renovations of older buildings without extensive modernization of distribution systems.
For domestic hot water preparation, temperatures of up to 65 °C can be reached without an electric backup heater, significantly reducing operating costs.
Energy efficiency and environmental parameters
The units use the natural refrigerant R290 with an extremely low global warming potential (GWP = 3), meeting the strictest environmental standards while increasing operational efficiency.
The M series achieves an energy class of up to A+++ in heating mode and significantly reduces energy consumption compared to traditional systems.
Quiet and reliable operation
Panasonic’s unique low-noise architecture creates a comfortable environment with minimal operating noise, which is essential for residential and commercial buildings in densely populated areas.
Outdoor units feature specially designed compressor and heat-exchanger constructions to ensure reliable and long-term operation.
Flexible solutions for various building types
The Big Aquarea M series is designed to cover requirements ranging from residential homes to commercial and industrial buildings. Units are available in multiple output capacities (e.g., 20 kW, 25 kW, 30 kW) and can be combined in cascade systems up to 300 kW, enabling large-scale heating installations with optimal efficiency.
When is a high-quality UV tape sufficient, and when does UV-resistant piping make sense
1) Practical problem: UV radiation degrades standard insulation
In outdoor sections of refrigeration and air-conditioning piping (especially between the unit and trunking/ducts or in open spaces), the most common weak point is the insulation, not the copper pipe itself. Standard elastomeric or foam insulations without protection gradually become brittle, crack, and deteriorate under sunlight, which opens the way to:
-
water ingress into the insulation and condensation,
-
reduction of thermal insulation performance (energy losses),
-
increased risk of failures and complaints (e.g. wet façades, stains, corrosion under insulation).
The manufacturer itself states that without protection, standard insulation deteriorates under sunlight and damage can lead to condensation and reduced system performance.
2) High cost–performance solution: UV-resistant adhesive tape UVT-50-I
INABA DENKO UVT-50-I is a UV-resistant PE adhesive tape designed to cover and protect exposed insulation sections in outdoor applications. The manufacturer describes it as a solution with strong resistance to solar radiation and suitable for protecting exposed insulation.
Basic specification of UVT-50-I (for project planning and cost calculations):
-
width 50 mm, length 20 m, thickness approx. 0.11 mm, ivory color, PE material.
Service life verification (commercial and technical context)
A “Certificate of UV Test” is available, stating that a result of 300 UV exposure cycles can be assumed to correspond to 12–13 years under Japanese conditions (calculated based on UV dose measured in the Choshi area, according to JWTC – Japan Weathering Test Center). At the same time, it is clearly stated that this is an assumption and that actual service life depends on the installation location and environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, rain, chemicals, etc.).
Practical conclusion:
For most standard outdoor installations, UVT-50-I is a very effective way to extend insulation service life and reduce maintenance interventions.
3) Comparison: (A) standard insulated copper piping + UVT tape vs. (B) copper piping with UV-resistant coating
A) Standard insulated copper piping + UV-resistant adhesive tape UVT-50-I
Advantages
-
Lowest additional cost with a significant increase in durability of outdoor sections.
-
Installation flexibility: the tape is applied only where needed (critical points, penetrations, bends, insulation ends, service loops).
-
Fast repair/renewal: in case of local damage, the tape can be easily reapplied without replacing the entire section.
-
Strong commercial benefit: a low-cost add-on that reduces claims and increases customer satisfaction (fewer return visits = higher project margin).
Disadvantages / risks
-
Performance depends on disciplined application (proper overlap, firm pressing into the insulation, no exposed areas left untreated). The manufacturer explicitly emphasizes the need to press the tape firmly into the insulation.
B) Copper piping with UV-resistant surface (UV-resistant coating / UV-resistant PE insulation)
Advantages
-
System solution: UV protection is integrated, reducing the risk of human error.
-
More suitable for projects where piping is fully and permanently exposed to UV radiation over long periods (without trunking or additional protection).
Disadvantages
-
Generally higher material cost.
-
In case of local damage, repair of the “clean” UV layer can be more complicated (often still requiring additional taping or covering).
UV-RESISTANT isolated copper pipe INABA DENKO
Ordinary insulation material will wear out and break due to long-term exposure to UV rays.
Damage to the insulation will affect the performance of the air conditioner and cause refrigerant gas leakage.
INABA DENKO pre-insulated copper pipes are UV resistant and last twice as long even without taping or guttering because they are pre-insulated with excellent UV protective materials.
